Located on the western bluffs of Los Angeles overlooking the broad sweep of the Pacific Ocean, Pacific Palisades is a beautiful residential community with a small-town feel. Many of its large and gracious homes have coast or canyon views and behind gates sit some of the region’s truly outstanding architectural masterpieces, including Eames House.
Bisected by wide Sunset Boulevard, the Palisades community is home to charming restaurants and stores and is within minutes of the beach and hillside parks and hiking trails. Will Rogers State Historic Park is undergoing a major renovation project that will restore the landscape to its appearance during Will Rogers’ time.
Its stables and trails attract horseback-riders year-round, while throngs of fans come to watch polo matches on the weekends from April through October. Hiking trails wind up through eucalyptus trees and chaparral to hilltop vistas that overlook the ocean, Catalina Island, the coastline and the city, clear to Downtown.
The community has its own newspaper, the Palisadian-Post, a cooking academy, and a very active cultural core. Theatre Palisades offers year-round local productions, and an annual film festival caps year-round screenings with a three-day festival in May.
The Riviera Country Club is famous world-wide for its golf links and its landscaped acreage and high-ceilinged Spanish-style architecture are frequent backdrops for elegant balls and star-studded weddings.
From Sunset Boulevard up the long stretch of Palisades Drive, Palisades Highlands is one of the area’s newer residential enclaves. A peninsula of hillside estates, homes, townhomes and condominiums, with a small commercial ‘village,’ it is tucked into the vast green expanse of Topanga State Park.
